Learning More About Our Programs Is Easy

Call us at 425/454-6982 to arrange a no-cost, no-obligation appointment. You’ll enjoy the visit, you’ll never feel pressured, and you’ll gain considerable insight about yourself.

The first session usually lasts an hour. We’ll learn more about your background and then take time to describe our programs and how they might help you. At the end of the session we will make a recommendation as to what type of program will be most appropriate for you. We base our recommendations on your counseling needs and your financial situation.

As we wrap up that first session we will provide you with materials to take home to read, including some of our published articles. We’ll provide you an initial exercise to get you looking at your past accomplishments, or what we also call your good experiences. In a second session we go over those experiences and identify the many skills and qualities you demonstrated.

The accomplishments exercise is a simple yet powerful tool. Through it you will begin seeing yourself through new eyes. You’ll be able to break out of the old way you view yourself, to see yourself being successful in career settings quite different from your current one. You’ll have a strong realization that your "transferable skills" can take you into areas that seemed closed to you before.

This exercise invariably gives people more confidence, and when you start a job search, you can never have too much confidence. Looking at your accomplishments also prepares you for interviews. Today, the secret of interviewing is knowing how to back up what you say about yourself with specific examples. It is through these examples that an interviewer will become convinced of your skills and qualities. Your examples will help the interviewer remember you and to visualize you being successful on the job.

Working on this sample exercise enables you to answer several key questions:

Will I enjoy working with this counselor?

Does this counselor have the knowledge and ability to guide me through career exploration and the job search?

Is this person committed to my personal success?

Did I receive benefit from this exercise? (If so, you will receive great benefit from the others as well)

Am I willing to put considerable effort into the exercises and the overall process to make it work for me?

Does it appear that this program will be a good investment of time and money?

Before you would commit yourself to any program, all of your questions will be answered to your satisfaction and you’ll have a full understanding of what you can expect from us and what we expect from you. You’ll know what we are committing to you in terms of hours of service and the length of time we will provide services. While we do work on an hourly basis, most people select one of our programs. With our Job Finding Program our commitment is to work with you until you find the job you are looking for. There are no limits on the number of months of service or the number of hours of one-on-one time. Over the years this has been a very valued feature for our clients.
