Relations Manager - Responsible for the employee relations
function for this farm implements manufacturer with 1200 employees. With a staff
of 15, oversee all hiring and recruiting, compensation, benefits
administration, promotions, job evaluations, security, printing, company
cafeteria, and the infirmary. Have developed and implemented numerous labor
and cost saving practices including a Quality of Worklife program which has
improved productivity 26%. Also instituted an effective employee assistance
program.
Enhanced
the existing safety program and have reduced industrial accidents 45%.
Represent the company in all OSHA, FEPC, and EEOC administrative hearings. Work
closely with four labor unions to maintain harmonious working relations.
Grievances have been reduced from over 40 per month to less than 15.
Manager of
Corporate Industrial Relations - For this 11,000
employee manufacturer, responsible for labor negotiations, contract
administration, arbitrations, labor board appearances, and the development and
implementation of labor relations programs. Work with numerous unions including
Steelworkers, UAW, Machinists, Teamsters, and craft unions.
Successfully
directed union avoidance efforts at nine locations, and have negotiated over 32
labor contracts. Developed methods for determining true costs of a union
contract and created a prenegotiation research methodology which has become the
corporate standard. Created an on-going union/management communications forum
which has largely been responsible for reducing grievances 34%. Through a
foreman training program, the absentee rate has been reduced from 12% to 4%.
