Claims Representative - As a claims representative for the Consumer Protection Division, interview consumers regarding unfair or deceptive business practices and make recom­men­dations for appropriate action. Determine jurisdiction of the issue and refer to other agencies for assistance when appropriate. Investigate complaints and mediate cases in order to arrive at solution satisfactory to both parties. Have maintained an excellent success rate.

 

Administrative Coordinator - As Administrative Coordinator of Grant County, report to the county council and have responsibility for all administrative functions. Developed and implemented new systems that have reduced operating costs and increased efficiency. Annually prepare and administer a $90-110 million county budget. Developed and implemented an effective purchasing system and instituted cost saving measures such as bulk purchasing and competitive bidding. Write and administer policies concerning personnel, safety, vehicle use, and ethics. Negotiate labor agreements. Simplified the administration of the contracts by consolidating five agreements into two master contracts covering 300 employees. Act as liaison with Federal, State, non-profit, and private agencies. Heavily involved in grant writing, grant management, and public speaking.

 

Construction Inspector—Responsible for promoting and achieving code and ordinance compliance through construction inspections. Work closely with developers, builders, and architects to enable them to produce innovative projects which comply with both the spirit and letter of the law. Recognized as fair but tough in the interpretation of codes. Coordinate with architects and builders on major projects to discuss difficulties in achieving code compliance and work out solutions which benefit both the City and the builder.

Resolve disputes over code interpretation between inspectors and construction person­nel. Review and approve the use of new materials by researching lab test results. Recommend code changes and ordinances for adoption by the City Council as needed. Played a key role in developing and implementing a computerized system which effectively handles all building department functions and has been adopted by several cities nationally.
